Overall Objectives :
To achieve 100% enrollment of school going children ”Back to School” and increase the enrollment with 30% of new children in the age group 5-7 years; and a special emphasis to facilitate inclusive education for the disabled children who can’t cope up with the normal education.
To improve the quality of education through teachers training, SMC strengthening, community mobilization, and strengthening of the education department.
Specific Objectives :
In the targeted schools of the selected UCs 100% children who were in school before the earthquake return to school.
25% reduction in the drop out rates resulting 25% increase in the retention rates is achieved.
LHV & LHW activities would be carried out to improve the health of children that will certainly help improve quality of the education.
At least 30% of school-aged children, especially girls, who were not enrolled before the earthquake, are attending schools regularly in the targeted schools.
The School Management Committees (SMCs) are restructured and their capacities enhanced through various training workshops and formal meetings to make sure that these SMCs are actively participating in school improvement, monitoring and maintenance.
Teacher training are conducted in close coordination and collaboration with the education department in pedagogy, content/subject-based knowledge, children’s hygiene, effective utilization of school materials like school-in Box.
A minimum of 70% of the permanent and temporary schools established are inclusive in nature and have healthy learners.
The school tents are property installed and well managed/maintained by the teachers and the SMCs.
Standard EMIS databases in targeted schools are developed and maintained.
Schools are regularly monitored and supervised by Eco-Conservation Initiatives (ECI) staff, education authorities and SMCs for increase in enrolment, tents maintenance, maintaining retention rate and to improve quality education.
An effective coordination mechanism is established between the education department and SMCs to achieve sustainability of the activities carried out.
Child centered co-curricular activities such as sports, debates etc. are initiated and sustained for provision of healthy and relaxed environment to children by making best use of UNICEF school-in-boxes and recreational kits.
The process of bringing attitudinal changes in communities for creating a sustained demand for quality education is initiated.
Education supplies provided by UNICEF and locally purchased are distributed in the target schools involving SMCs and Education Department.
Comprehensive data of the changing education situation (movement of families from camps to their villages of origin) as well as on vulnerable, with special emphasis on girls, IDP children, orphans and children with disabilities are collected, monitored and their admissions ensured in their villages of origin.
Targets Achieved :
Baseline survey of 119 schools was completed. 26 teachers and 104 SMCs were trained.
Co-curricular activities at school level were carried out in 9 schools of Banni Passari.
1260 children were enrolled including 1005 fresh kids and 255-dropout student. One school, which was merged, was re-opened.
One shelter was constructed through mobilization of communities.
Tents and other supplies including notebooks, pencils, geometry boxes, school bags, caram board and recreational kits were distributed throughout 119 target schools.
Standard EMIS databases in targeted school were developed and submitted to education department, district Bagh.
